Compost Collection
The Compost Collection starts with photographs of kitchen food waste, destined for the compost bin, but a vivid mix of colours, textures and patterns and puts this back on the plate, playing with ideas of food waste. A further stage overlays the body; the nude initially respresenting flesh, or a meal, but also ideas of the food inside us, our gut microbiome.
Further studies play with ideas of beauty in waste, the stalk of a courgette forming a flower tattoo on the skin, and silhouettes and colours reminiscent of blue and white tableware; as well as the skin as a surface or glaze.
